Instructions:

This practice can be done anytime, anywhere, all you need is a few minutes and your five senses.

  1. Begin by taking three deep, belly breaths. Inhaling through your nose, exhaling through your mouth.

  2. Look around you and identify five things that share something in common (they can all be the same color; all have wings; have a similar shape; etc).

  3. Listen carefully and identify five distinct sounds.

  4. Notice five sensations (the breeze on your face, the chair beneath your bottom, the cold glass desk beneath your hands).

  5. Now pay attention to how it smells. How would you describe this smell?

  6. Lastly, taste. What can you taste? Is it faint, overpowering?

  7. Conclude this practice by taking three more deep, belly breaths. Inhaling through your nose, exhaling through your mouth.
